Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, the nation’s largest privately owned specialty pharmacy, announced today their Corporate Offices and National Operations Center have completed all phases of their move into the former GM Great Lakes Technology Centre in Flint, Michigan.

Diplomat’s new headquarters include an advanced distribution hub to control their nationwide network, a state of the art specialty pharmacy compounding laboratory to serve the nation, a Patient Assistance Pharmacy to manage and dispense Free Drug Programs for qualifying patients, a new industry training and education center, a high technology software development and data center, and a national patient call center. Over the next several years, Diplomat anticipates investing $12 million in its new headquarters.

“This move really sets the tone for the future of Diplomat,” said Phil Hagerman, President and CEO. “Our 20,028 square foot national distribution hub will help set a new bar in this industry, enabling us to provide personal care for more chronically ill patients all across the country, while improving efficiency with our hi-tech automation."

In April 2010, Diplomat first announced plans of relocating its headquarters from Swartz Creek to Flint after receiving an 18-year Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) tax credit from the state of Michigan for $61.5 million and $14 million in Career Alliance, Inc. workforce training funds. By moving into the 340,000-square-foot space, Diplomat is now able to significantly expand its workforce. Over the next five years, Diplomat plans to add 1000 new jobs.

“Diplomat Pharmacy has been a leader in the specialty pharmacy industry for 35 years because we provide our patients with innovative care and the highest level of service,” said Hagerman. “As we grow, we will not lose sight of that; each patient requires and deserves time, empathy and focused care.”
