Beginning the end of October, Honda’s Greensburg, Indiana production facility will begin producing the new Civic sedan, as well the Civic’s alternate fuel model. This is thanks in part to Honda’s hiring of an addition 1000 employees and adding a second shift to meet demand. Benson Honda, a leading Honda dealer in San Antonio, TX is proud to announce this news.

With this increased workforce, Honda officials say that the employees have now doubled and will successfully bring production to about 200,000 vehicles per year.

Greensburg, Indiana facility spokesperson Anita Siples explained Wednesday the new hires were actually hired in phases.
"They are all right now training on the line, learning their processes," Sipes told The Associated Press. "On the 24th, the shifts will split and we'll be building double."

With a slight production delay since their 2008 opening, due to the recession and Tsunami, the facility is right on track with Honda’s announcement to add these jobs by year’s end. Honda states no workers were laid off during the slow period.

The Civic Natural Gas is slated for increased production at the Greensburg plant. Beginning next week the production will begin on the 2012 model. The Greensburg plant is the exclusive production facility for the Civic Natural Gas model.

Earlier models of the Civic Natural Gas model were only available in 72 Honda dealers spread across four states; however it is now reported that the number will be increased to 200 Honda dealers in 36 states.
