Now in its fourth year, and second year co-located with PCMA’s Convening Leaders conference, the Virtual Edge Summit has always showcased the best and brightest minds in virtual and hybrid events.

Popularized by late night television, “top ten lists” have been used by publishers for decades to count down the most or least popular topics in society. In homage to these trendsetters, the Virtual Edge Institute (VEI) has issued its own Top Five Reasons for Attending the Virtual Edge Summit 2012 (VES 2012) list.

“Now in its fourth year, and second year co-located with PCMA’s Convening Leaders conference, the Virtual Edge Summit has always showcased the best and brightest minds in virtual and hybrid events,” explained Michael Doyle, Executive Director of VEI and organizer of VES 2012. “What better way to highlight the value of these programs for marketers, conference managers, and meeting and event professionals than in the form of a Top Five List?”

Number 5 - 34 Sessions + Industry Practitioners = Best Industry Education on Digital Solutions for Collaboration and Marketing!
Under the theme of “Accelerate: knowledge. strategy. results.,” VES 2012 is the only conference that brings together the best minds from corporations and associations to share best practices, case studies and insights for the industry. With sessions focused on all aspects of digital solutions for meetings, events, learning and community, summit attendees will gain the knowledge to drive strategies forward and deliver real business results. And this year, VES 2012 introduces sessions specifically designed for those new to the virtual and hybrid events industry, including: Choosing Your Digital Engagement Tool; Designing Online Events for Compelling Attendee Experiences; Capturing, Repurposing and Monetizing Your Event Content; What Virtual Success Looks Like: HIMSS; and Hybrids: From Shoestring to Turnkey.

Number 4 – Single Destination for Your Digital Solution Needs
The number of virtual event vendors, platforms and service providers has grown to more than 400 companies in 20 categories according to VEI’s online directory of digital solutions. By attending VES 2012, meeting practitioners, marketers and senior executives can personally research, evaluate and speak with the largest number of digital solution providers gathered together in one location.

Number 3 - Co-Location with PCMA Convening Leaders Conference
Considered the forerunner in providing its membership with up-to-date education and resources on trends and changes within the meetings industry, the Professional Conference Management Association (PCMA) Convening Leaders conference (January 8-11, 2012) will once again be co-located with VES 2012. Complimentary to all PCMA attendees, VES 2012 will provide timely knowledge on virtual and hybrid event strategies and tactics, further expanding the growth and adoption of digital solutions within the conference industry.

Number 2 – The DEMOS Learning Lounge
This year, VES 2012 will feature DEMOS (Digital Event, Meeting & Other Solutions) in a dedicated area for learning about technology solutions directly from leading solution providers and their customers. The DEMOS area will have stations for demos, instruction, tours, private consults, and peer-to-peer case studies. Center stage is the Deconstruction Theater, where featured presenters will take apart the components of virtual and hybrid events to understand what works from engagement techniques, speaker training, sand sponsor integration, to audience acquisition and measurement practices.

Number 1 Reason to Attend Virtual Edge Summit 2012 … It’s your Schedule – In-Person or Virtually
According to a joint report published by VEI, PCMA and UBM Studios, physical and virtual audiences seek to access content before, during and after the conference (Business Motivations and Social Behaviors of In-Person and Online Events, July 2011). What better way to provide audiences with flexible access to content than a hybrid event. Via the Digital Event Center, VEI will provide pre-event interviews, live Q&A sessions, and blogs postings with select speakers, access to watch VES 2012 general sessions live from San Diego, and post-event content summaries from the show floor.

For those seeking an even more interactive online experience, VES 2012 will also offer a Virtual Pass, which provides online attendees access to eight sessions and two general sessions streamed live from the conference, and on-demand access to all VES 2012 sessions.
