Blackrock Microsystems LLC, Salt Lake City, UT, announced today the launch of its newest business, Blackrock NeuroMed, established to deliver the most sophisticated EEG and single cell recording systems to clinicians worldwide. Dr. Jean Gotman, a leading expert in EEG recording and analysis, especially as it relates to epilepsy and source analysis, will lead the scientific advisory board of Blackrock NeuroMed.
Dr. Gotman is a professor at the Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University and founder of Stellate Systems, Inc., a neuro-diagnostics company. He was trained as an electrical engineer, pursued a Master’s in Computer Science and holds a PhD degree in Neuroscience from McGill University.
“I am excited about Blackrock NeuroMed’s market position to fill a product gap in advanced clinical neuro-diagnostics and clinical research," says Gotman. "The NeuroMed technology opens a new frontier in neuro-diagnostics and the Blackrock team brings strong product engineering and commercialization leadership to this industry."
“We are very pleased to have Dr. Gotman as a part of our team," says Andy Gotshalk, Blackrock Microsystems CEO. "He brings years of experience as a researcher and a successful businessman and is highly regarded in the field of clinical neuroscience.”
Blackrock NeuroMed’s new technology builds upon the technologies of Blackrock Microsystems to deliver sophisticated research capabilities integrated with an easy to use EEG system. “Currently, there is a gap in the field of clinical neuro-diagnostics where standard EEG systems can’t perform the sophisticated data collection and data analysis that newer electrode technologies enable,” remarks Gotshalk. “We are thrilled that our core platform technology has reached a point where we are expanding into clinical applications that impact patient needs.”
