We expect to capture over 5 tons of food waste, leading to the reduction of over 4.1 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

It is great to know that the organizers of Sweetlife Festival are confident in the fact that people coming to hear great music are fully capable of disposing of their trash in an earth friendly manner. We know this will be a great success!”

EnviRelation is participating in the 2nd annual Sweetlife Festival, sponsored by Sweetgreen. The Festival is expected to draw 20,000 attendees, all of whom are interested in being as environmentally friendly as possible while enjoying great music in the outdoors. EnviRelation is proud to be participating in a “festival with a soul,” that aims to be carbon neutral.

Composting is a big component of achieving carbon neutrality. Diverting food waste from landfills avoids the creation of dangerous methane gas, a greenhouse gas that the EPA estimates to be more than 20 times worse for the environment than carbon dioxide.

EnviRelation has a long standing relationship with Sweetgreen, a locally based company that offers a menu of fresh, sustainable eats in an eco-friendly dining environment. The Sweetlife Festival, started last year by Sweetgreen in their parking lot, drew so much enthusiasm that the salad company decided to scale up the event to the most outdoorsy venue in the area – Merriweather Post Pavilion. Participating artists include The Strokes, Girl Talk, Lupe Fiasco, Crystal Castles, Cold War Kids, Ra Ra Riot, Theophilus London, Walk the Moon US Royalty, Modern Man. Other green sponsors include Honest Tea, Applegate Farms, Keany Produce, Hipstamatic, Fast Society and OPOWER.

Walker Lunn, founder of EnviRelation, says “Sweetgreen is one of our leading environmentally conscious customers. We are delighted to be a part of this amazing event and help reinforce the restaurant’s green practices. Composting is one of the easiest ways for anyone to “go green” and we look forward to spreading the word to Festival attendees.”

Kimberli Lucas-Wieand, Customer Service Manager at EnviRelation, remarks “Rarely do we find that large events trust the attendees with composting. It is great to know that the organizers of Sweetlife Festival are confident in the fact that people coming to hear great music are fully capable of disposing of their trash in an earth friendly manner. We know this will be a great success!”
