Since 1957, Fiesta Noche del Rio has been seen by more than 1 million visitors to San Antonio and has raised more than $5 million for local children's charities. This popular River Walk show is produced by the Alamo Kiwanis Club Charities, Inc. and marks its 55th season this summer.

Where can you compete in a grito contest and do the Cotton-eyed Joe all in one night? Only in San Antonio at Fiesta Noche del Rio – the longest-running outdoor musical revue of its kind in the U.S.

The river that runs through this community has always been regarded as one of its treasures. From the first recorded description of it in 1536 by explorer Alavar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca – people have realized its power. In earlier years for its life-sustaining gift, then later for its community-enriching gift – the San Antonio River has always been a place to gather, to step away from the everyday and experience the extraordinary.

This summer, the San Antonio River is once again the site of a historic event. The milestone belongs to that of another San Antonio treasure that has delighted people from all around the world – Fiesta Noche del Rio – now in its 55th season!

Seen by more than one million visitors from around the world, it has been the main fundraising vehicle of the Alamo Kiwanis Club Charities, Inc. which has raised more than $5 million for local children’s charities.

This live production of the music, song and dance of Mexico, Spain, Argentina, and Texas is not the same production that it was 50 years – or even last year. Its essence and foundation are the same as the idea that began in the mind of the late Rosita Fernandez, “San Antonio’s First Lady of Song,” which in 1957 took flight. But each year, ‘Fiesta Noche’ – the “night party on the river” – evolves. It reflects the culture of yesterday but also of today – so that today’s audiences are connected with, then comfortably drawn into worlds they might never have visited before.

What to expect when you go: a professionally produced, fast-paced and colorful outdoor show performed in seven acts featuring beautifully-costumed dancers and singers with lively music from Mexico, Spain, Argentina and Texas.

Showtime is every Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. May 13 – August 13 at the Arneson River Theatre. Ticket are $15 for adults; $12 for senior citizens; and $5 for children ages 6-14. Group and military discounts are also available. Tickets may be purchased by calling (210) 226-4651 or online at
