So many communities are being impacted by Mother Nature and the bad economy that we wanted to do something to help our fellow Americans and our partners involved in disaster relief ~ Bill Liebsch, President and CEO of FedHealth
Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) May 27, 2011
FedHealth, an independent publisher, announced it will discount their disaster preparedness book pricing through September 30, 2011 and donate 10% of all orders to relief efforts across the U.S.
“So many communities are being impacted by Mother Nature and the bad economy that we wanted to do something to help our fellow Americans and our partners involved in disaster relief, so this was a perfect win-win,” said FedHealth President and CEO Bill Liebsch.
Liebsch, co-author and publisher of IT’S A DISASTER! …and what are YOU gonna do about it? is discounting his 268-page preparedness book more than half off the retail price through September 30th. In addition, volunteers, schools and faith-based groups can still earn up to 50% of the discounted price through a variety of fundraising programs.
As an added benefit, FedHealth will donate 10% of ALL orders to volunteer groups - like Chasing4Life's Disaster Response Team, The Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response Association (DERA), U.S. First Responders Association’s DRT and others - throughout the summer.
Disaster education and relief groups are being stretched thin lately but the kindness of these volunteers can never be repaid. “Our hope is to help offset some of their costs so they can continue to help communities prepare for and recover from disasters of all kinds,” said Liebsch.
"This Spring has seen a series of devastating natural disasters hit the South and Midwest regions of the United States. Between the recent flooding of towns all along the Mississippi River and the deadly storms and tornadoes that have ripped through communities, there is urgent need now and for the foreseeable future to safeguard and rebuild these communities” said Captain Daniel Lewis, Vice President of USFRA. “Arming our volunteers with the tools they need to help these communities is a daunting task at best, especially during an economic downturn; but now we have the opportunity to supplement our funding, thus allowing our DRT to hit the ground running."
“I could not be happier that the decision was made to do this,” said Brandi Hodgen of Chasing4Life. “The number of volunteers we have wanting to respond has grown immensely this year, but outfitting these teams is a massive effort in itself. It can be frustrating to train teams that we cannot get on the ground simply because of small financial obstacles or lack of equipment. In light of the recent tragedy in Joplin, the pressure is being felt more than ever before”.
Hodgen also pointed out that responding to disasters must always be in a coordinated effort with authorities, and that trained teams should always work through a liaison organization rather than self-deploying.
Many disaster education and relief organizations use IT'S A DISASTER! as public education materials for communities before and following a crisis since the book explains what people should think about and do before, during and after specific types of scenarios, as well as how to administer basic first aid.
"Everyone that I have spoken with after they receive a copy is very pleased with the information and easy to read format", said Howard Pierpont DERA Chairman - Board of Directors. “We are firm believers in education and preparedness and this book puts valuable data directly into the hands of those that can benefit the most. Individuals and their neighbors are first on scene and may be called on to provide immediate assistance as the response system is often stretched to their limits. This book is a wonderful aid in how to provide for yourself and your loved ones during times of need.”
Since 1999 FedHealth has been working with U.S. and Canadian officials and organizations to spread awareness and get hundreds of thousands of copies of IT’S A DISASTER! into homes and businesses while donating millions in cash and match to First Responders and nonprofit groups.
