Singh Brings Supply Chain Expertise to Healthcare to Improve Operational Performance

Edifecs, Inc., a leading provider of healthcare software solutions, announced today that its president and chief executive officer, Sunny Singh, has been honored as Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2011 for the Pacific Northwest in the Technology category. An independent panel of judges representing regional businesses, academic institutions, and community leaders selected Singh for the award, which recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. All Pacific Northwest winners were announced at a gala event on Friday, June 10, 2011.

Singh is a software and industrial engineering expert who spent his early career solving supply chain and enterprise integration problems. When he began thinking about starting his own company, Singh adhered to his core belief that it was not enough to build and grow a profitable company. He wanted to create a meaningful company, even if it meant taking on more risk.

Singh founded Edifecs in 1996 with the goal of solving significant supply chain issues by developing superior technology. Even as Edifecs enjoyed its initial success in multiple industries, Singh recognized early how paper-based processes were driving up healthcare costs with no improvement in quality. He saw the problem for what it was: a supply chain issue not too far removed from what other industries had previously faced and overcome. As a result, he pivoted Edifecs to be ready for the opportunity in healthcare.

Today Edifecs is enjoying record growth despite the economic downturn, and counts more than 250 healthcare companies among its customers. The company is profitable, has no debt, and its Compound Annual Growth Rate from 2007 to 2010 was greater than 50 percent.

“I am honored to have received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award for the Pacific Northwest and be recognized for Edifecs’ spirit of innovation,” said Singh. “I believe Edifecs’ mission of bringing administrative efficiency to the healthcare industry is a worthy cause. The cost savings alone would be sufficient to insure the millions of Americans who lack healthcare coverage today.”

Singh has focused on hiring the best and the brightest of the healthcare industry elite. “Edifecs would not have achieved the success it has today without the talented team of experts who are passionate about developing streamlined, quality solutions for the healthcare industry,” he said.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year program celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The program has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 140 cities and more than 50 countries throughout the world. As a Pacific Northwest award recipient, Singh is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 national program, which will announce its winners on November 12, 2011.
