Many of our locations have experienced growth in demand for crates that meet international shipping requirements, which means growth in exports.

Craters & Freighters, a national franchise company providing shipping solutions for oversized and high value shipments, has announced plans to open 20 new franchises during the next 12 months. Through the second quarter of this year company-wide revenues have increased 22% over 2010.

According to company founder and CEO, Diane Gibson, “Because we have a unique niche in meeting the domestic as well as international crating and shipping needs of manufacturers, the time is right to expand our specialty shipping network .”

Although recent export data showed a slight decline last month, consistently rising demand for U.S. products during the first half of the year has been a bright spot in economic data. Many believe exports will rebound and continue to be strong in the second half of the year.

“Many of our locations have experienced growth in demand for crates that meet international shipping requirements, which means growth in exports,” said Gibson. “With U.S. shipments overseas reaching a record level earlier this year, we are in the ideal position of helping manufacturers get their products to foreign markets.”

Craters & Freighters currently has 67 franchise locations across the country that provide custom crating, packing and shipping service for businesses as well as consumers. The company has crated and shipped such diverse products as rockets, large computer servers and museum pieces.

Gibson noted that “We started with one location 21 years ago, grew to 67, then went through a bit of a lull, especially during the recent downturn. Now, although reports on the economy seem to alternate between positive and negative based on short term data points , we continue to see a very positive long-term economic trend in our business, which makes this the ideal time for opening new Craters & Freighters franchises.”

All Craters & Freighters franchises are independently owned, but supported by an extensive home office team of professionals, including marketing. “We’re not like many big, impersonal franchise companies,” said Gibson, “we operate like one large, cohesive team, which is part of what attracted many of our franchise owners in the first place.”
