Sophos and Trend Micro are named Endpoint Anti-Malware market Champions by Info-Tech Research Group and innovate to keep up with evolving malware threats.

“Malware threats continue to evolve at a breakneck pace, as does the sheer volume of different malware types that exist. To keep up with the onslaught, Anti-Malware vendors must continue to innovate and bring new products with capabilities to the field.

A recent Endpoint Anti-Malware Vendor Landscape report released by Info-Tech Research Group lists Sophos and Trend Micro as market Champions. In a market that is constantly evolving to keep up with modern malware threats, these vendors provide solutions that allow business leaders to sleep at night.

“Malware threats continue to evolve at a breakneck pace, as does the sheer volume of different malware types that exist,” said James Quin, Lead Research Analyst, Info-Tech Research Group. “To keep up with the onslaught, Anti-Malware vendors must continue to innovate and bring new products with capabilities to the field. Simple signature-based scanners are no longer close to sufficient.”

Sophos is a Champion in the Vendor Landscape report leading the pack with a balance of both product strength and vendor capabilities. They also received the “Innovation Award” by offering the most complete solution which scored in every advanced feature category in the evaluation. Info-Tech recommends that Sophos be considered as an alternative on every business’ short-list.

Trend Micro is commended for their laser-sharp focus as they deliver the strongest reputation scanning abilities on the market. The report states that reputation scanning offers the hope of a rebalancing of the protection/performance scale as viruses become almost unmanageable by traditional measures. As the originator of this capability, Trend Micro is a true endpoint protection innovator and is also listed as a Champion in the report.

Endpoint Anti-Malware is not a solution that businesses should cut corners on to save a few dollars according to Info-Tech, but the report highlights valid solutions that offer great value for money. Kaspersky is recognized as the “Best Overall Value” winner offering the lowest- priced solution in the landscape at a cost of less than half of the solutions from the “big three.” The truly paranoid may find limited appeal in this price point as Kaspersky’s solution offers a smaller feature set, but Info-Tech believes it is a solution that must be considered by cost- conscious enterprises.
