South Jordan, UT (PRWEB) January 04, 2012
Amber Alert GPS, a leading provider of GPS technology and services to keep kids safe, today announced its acquisition of AmberAlert.com. This announcement comes on the heels of the company’s agreement with AT&T to provide wireless connectivity for the Amber Alert GPS V3, its new child tracking device that keeps parents updated on the location of their children. “By adding the capabilities of AmberAlert.com to the Amber Alert GPS family, we now address the needs of law enforcement and parents,” said Carol Colombo, CEO of Amber Alert GPS.
AmberAlert.com has developed a significant portfolio of intellectual property assets relating to child safety and security, including the nation’s most innovative and efficient alerting technology for states to issue AMBER Alerts. Law enforcement agencies in 10 U.S. states currently use the system to distribute the AMBER Alert notifications.
“The Company is honored to provide this essential service to participating States free of charge,” said Carol Colombo, CEO of Alert GPS Holdings Corp., the parent company of Amber Alert GPS, Inc. “Our stewardship of this service is consistent with our Company’s commitment to child safety and security.”
“Amber Alert GPS has one of the smallest child GPS devices on the market and has been repeatedly recognized for its secure, ‘Mom Friendly’ online monitoring portal,” said Russell Thornton, Founder of Amber Alert GPS. “By adding this technology and other significant intellectual property assets to the Amber Alert GPS family of products and services, we reinforce our position as a leader in mobile safety and security for children and families.”
“The goal of AmberAlert.com was to develop and refine the LEAP (Law Enforcement Alerting Portal) technology along with My Child ID and turn them over to a company that shared our commitment to helping save children’s lives,” said former AmberAlert.com CEO Harlan Lyons. “We are confident that Amber Alert GPS will take our vision to even greater heights and continue to serve the AMBER Alert Program and families everywhere.” The team of developers that created, implemented and maintained the system has transitioned to Amber Alert GPS as part of the acquisition of the technology.
