Ellen Asmodeo-Giglio, Executive Vice President and Publisher of AFAR Media, has announced that Dinesh Kapoor has joined AFAR as Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer. He is based in New York.
Prior to joining AFAR, Kapoor was Creative Director at JWT New York, where he oversaw accounts that include HSBC, Ford, Royal Caribbean, De Beers, Smirnoff, Kimberley Clarke and Macy’s. As Creative Director on HSBC, Kapoor led a crew of photographers and cinematographers on a multimedia assignment across 40 cities around the world creating content that was curated and used in the brand’s global campaign.
He also co-wrote the lyrics for the song “Gurus of Peace” with Oscar-winner (“Slumdog Millionaire”) AR Rahman on what continues to be India’s top-selling non-film album.

Integrated Marketing Director
Anjali Virmani has also joined AFAR Media as Integrated Marketing Director. Most recently, Virmani was Associate Director, Integrated Marketing at Fairchild Media and prior to that she was Senior Manager of Promotions at Town and Country and Veranda magazines, and Special Projects Manager at O, The Oprah Magazine.
Shelley Tatum Kieran has been named Director of Public Relations. Kieran was previously Director of Communications at GOOD, Dwell Media and Wired.
AFAR finished 2011 up more than 100% in ad pages over 2010. The September/October and November/December 2010 issues were the largest to date, and frequency will increase from six to seven issues per year in 2012. Circulation will increase to 175,000 this year and continues to increase by 25,000 every six months. AFAR.com is coming out of beta in February along with the introduction of a mobile app; the next AFAR Experience is soon to be announced; and Learning AFAR will send over fifty students to Costa Rica, the Peruvian Amazon and Yucatan this summer.
