Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) October 29, 2012
The Brooklyn Nets kick off the 2012/2013 NBA season in a new city, new building and will play on a one-of-a-kind court designed and created by Connor Sports Flooring. The new floor has a unique v-shaped herringbone design. At center court is a circular, black-and-white logo with the iconic “B” inside, surrounded by the words Brooklyn New York.
“Connor continues to be at the forefront of sports flooring design and innovation, and this unique court is a key part in defining the newly revamped Nets organization,” stated Jon Isaacs, General Manager and Vice President, Connor Sports Flooring. Connor is also responsible for another iconic floor, the parquet patterned court of the Boston Celtics.
The portable court consists of 240, four-foot by seven-foot hardwood maple panels that can be quickly installed and removed to accommodate a wide-variety of events that will be held at the Barclays Center.
Creating the Nets’ court posed some unique challenges. The design had to pass strict NBA testing to ensure it didn’t look blurry on television. Additionally, the maple had to be brought to very specific moisture content prior to manufacturing to ensure the herringbone pattern remained tight and in tact.
Keeping with Connor’s commitment to green business practices, all of the wood milled for this court was cut from forestlands certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an organization that promotes responsible management of the world’s forests. Connor has been a participant in the FSC certification program since 1996 and is audited annually to ensure that FSC standards are being implemented and followed.
