SMB Nation of Bainbridge Island, WA and the SMB Technology Network (SMBTN) of Los Angeles, CA today announced that Robert A. Nitrio, CEO of Ranvest Associates, Orangevale CA has been named one of two winners of the Jim Locke Memorial Community Award for 2012. The award was presented today at the tenth annual SMB Nation conference in Las Vegas, NV. Named in honor of Jim Locke, the founder of SMBTN and a distinguished leader in the small and medium business IT consulting community, this award is presented to the man and the woman who have provided significant leadership and service to the SMB IT consultant community. It includes admission to the Pocket M.B.A. Program, an intensive outcome-based curriculum designed to improve the business acumen of IT consultants. “I’m surprised and humbled by being selected for this award” Bob Nitrio shared "and I look forward to continue to work for the benefit of the SMB IT Pro community in the future." Nitrio said that he was pleased to learn that his friend and associate Rayanne Buchianico had been selected as the other recipient of this award this year.

Nitrio founded Ranvest Associates in 1992 as a strategic business consultancy with technology solutions. His focus is small and medium businesses, with a specialization in the property management field. In addition, he co-founded the Sacramento SMB IT Pros technology group in 2004 and has been its ongoing leader. In 2011 he was named one of the SMB 150 Influencers by SMB Nation and SMBTN and he was a finalist for the award in 2012. He is a former advisory board member for NEC Displays and he is presently an Advisory Board member for United Business Media’s XChange group and a member of Samsung’s Innovation Council.

Harry Brelsford, founder of SMB Nation said that “Bob is well-suited to receive this award. For many years the award was known as the ‘SBSer of the Year’ award reflecting the community surrounding Microsoft Windows Small Business Server. Let’s just day that Bob was ‘there’ and instrumental in helping build this community from the ground up. Bob is too modest to blow his own horn but he’s been active in a number of surrounding communities including SMB user group leads, GITCA and the CRN online community.”

Dave Seibert, co-founder and Vice President of SMB Technology Network notes that “Bob Nitrio has been a key contributor in our SMB IT community for several years. He is well deserving of the Jim Locke Memorial Community Award. Bob has been a leader to his fellow colleagues, involved in CompTIA, and helped improve several IT communities including his local Sacramento SMB IT Pros technology group. It is great to acknowledge Bob’s contributions.”

Karl Palachuk, co-founder of the Sacramento SMB IT Pros said “I am honored to have worked with Bob over the years. He stands out as one of the truly tireless leaders in our community. He represents SMB consultants to the vendor community, he advocates on our behalf, and he educates us on business as well as technology. We are lucky to have him in our community”
