We owe this honor to AnswerLab’s employees, who all contribute to a culture that simultaneously prizes client service, technological innovation, collaboration, and camaraderie.

Great Place to Work® recognized AnswerLab for having one of the best workplaces in the United States on their annual 2012 Best Small & Medium Workplaces list. Winners of the recognition were published today in FORTUNE magazine. The list recognizes companies that have exceptional workplace cultures. Now in its ninth year, the competition is divided into two categories, Small (25-250 employees) and Medium (251-999 employees).

AnswerLab, one of the nation’s leading user experience research firms, was selected among hundreds of companies vying for a place on the list this year. The selection process includes an anonymous employee survey and an in-depth review of the companies’ descriptions of their programs and practices. Great Place to Work® then evaluates each application using its unique methodology based on five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

“The Best Small & Medium Workplace list grows more competitive every year and this list represents the best of the best,” said Susan Lucas-Conwell, Global Chief Executive Officer of Great Place to Work®. “While each company is unique, what they have in common are strong cultures that support positive workplaces.”

Creators of the list, Great Place to Work® have found that employees believe they work for great organizations when they consistently trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do and enjoy the people they work with.

“We owe this honor to AnswerLab’s employees, who all contribute to a culture that simultaneously prizes client service, technological innovation, collaboration, and camaraderie” said Amy Buckner Chowdhry, AnswerLab CEO and Co-Founder. “Because we are a small company competing for highly skilled, exceptional talent in the Bay Area and New York, we place a lot of emphasis on delivering a workplace experience that offers opportunities to grow professionally, improve health and wellness, and give back to the community.”

AnswerLab Co-Founder and Chief Experience Officer Dan Clifford continued, “This recognition is especially meaningful to us because it is based on employee feedback. It’s validation that our focus on culture, training, career development and fun not only enables us to provide amazing service to clients but also provides a rewarding work environment for the team.”

AnswerLab is as focused on employee experience as it is on user experience. A $400 per year personal technology allowance keeps employees equipped with the latest hardware and software. A love of technology and wellness sees AnswerLab’s employees outfitted with Fitbits so that they can track their physical activity and participate in company-wide fitness competitions. The CEO invites employees to join her on Walk-and-Talks to encourage one-on-one interaction with leadership and get people moving at the same time. The company is also strongly committed to giving back to the community through a Giving Back program combining company sponsored projects and time for individual employee volunteer activities.

Organizations named on the list see many benefits that include better financial performance, less employee turnover, higher levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty, more innovative and creative thinking, higher productivity and enhanced public perception.
