Jeff Joyner Co-Chairs and Dwayne Mason Presents at Patent Disputes Forum 2012 for the Third Consecutive Year

Jeffrey K. Joyner, Intellectual Property & Technology shareholder in the Los Angeles office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will co-chair the Daily Journal and West LegalEdcenter conference “Patent Disputes 2012: Uncover the Changing Patent Landscape from Patent Portfolio to Litigation – Transitioning in a Post AIA World” for the third consecutive year.

Joyner will also moderate the panel “Best Practices for Litigating and Managing Disputes under AIA.” Greenberg Traurig Houston shareholder Dwayne L. Mason, head of the firm’s Texas Intellectual Property Litigation Practice, will participate on the panel titled “Creative Strategies for Solving Legal Issues with a Business Perspective – Outside Counsel View.”

Joyner, named one of the 75 Top IP Litigators in California by the Daily Journal in 2010, co-chairs the event with Tamara Fraizer, Principal of Fish & Richardson. The forum takes place at the Hilton Santa Clara in Santa Clara, California on Nov. 14.

Patent Disputes Forum 2012 is designed to bring together a distinguished faculty of the country’s foremost patent attorneys, in-house counsel, esteemed Judges and a senior official from the U.S.P.T.O. who will share their knowledge, experience and insight. Topics will include best practices in a patent trial from the judge’s and bar’s perspective.

Panels will cover perspectives from both in-house counsel and law firms and discuss working through a patent litigation -- what works, what doesn't work and the challenges on both sides. Attendees will hear from the top patent litigators and in-house counsel on how they would like to improve the process of litigating patent disputes. In addition, according to the conference website, it will be one of the first conferences to discuss the impact of the Apple vs. Samsung trial and verdict.

Joyner represents Fortune 500 international and domestic companies in patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, including serving as lead trial counsel. His focus includes defending numerous companies in large joint defense groups as lead counsel throughout the U.S. in patent actions brought against multiple defendants in jurisdictions throughout the U.S. such as the Eastern District of Texas and Northern and Central Districts of California with respect to many technologies ranging from interactive website technology to medical devices and from game devices to plastics. Joyner serves as a board member of CleanTech Los Angeles and Seven Arrows School. He is co-chair of the e-Mobility Task Force for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, and a member of the Green Economy Committee of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation.

Mason’s practice focuses on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and technology-based commercial litigation. He has litigated numerous intellectual property disputes in various state and federal district courts, including the Eastern District of Texas and Northern and Central Districts of California, in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal and 5th Circuits and in domestic and international arbitration proceedings before the American Arbitration Association and International Chamber of Commerce. Mason’s experience also includes proceedings before the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation where he recently argued and prevailed in a patent infringement case. His technology experience includes pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, nanotechnology, hydrocarbon and chemical processing, oil and gas production, process control, software and business methods.

Mason is a founding member of the Houston Intellectual Property American Inn of Court. He is a Public Official in the State of Texas where he serves as Director of the Harris County Improvement District No. 18. Mason also serves as a Director of AVANCE - Houston, Inc.,and as a director of the International Leadership Institute - Houston Accelerate Council.
