With the support of friends, clients and colleagues, Dr. Robert O’Dea has created a companion that helps show how positive changes in life can result in a positive change within the world around the reader in “Going for Gold” (published by Balboa Press).
Written as a practical, easy to read guide that simplifies Jungian analytical psychology, O’Dea introduces a different way of viewing individuals involvement in creating the world around them – individually, collectively and universally. In this way, he hopes that people will understand the philosophy that change begins with each person. “That positive change in our lives, in the lives of those around us and in the world is our individual responsibility,” states O’Dea.
“Going for Gold” is a collection of stories, examples, practical ideas, exercises and suggested movies that, O’Dea believes, will give readers another method of changing their lives and the lives of those surrounding them. Penned with a conversational undertone, the book is full of stories about people who have used it to change their lives while giving simple ways that lives may be improved.
An excerpt from “Going for Gold”:
“From studying Jung and working with my students and my clients, it seems to me that we all live in three parallel universes—lead, silver and gold. I refer to these as parallel universes because when we are in each one, it appears to be so real that we believe it must be the only alternative. This is just like in string theory where we can only see the universe in which we exist and we have no knowledge of any other possibilities, refusing to accept their existence. Yet, they do exist, as do the parallel universes of lead, silver and gold. And each one of us has the potential to move between these three universes at will, with our thoughts, our beliefs, our behaviors and our actions.”
“It seems that increasingly more people struggle on a daily basis to deal with the pressures of modern society,” says O’Dea.This book presents one way for people to bring about personal, positive change and learn skills to help them cope with the pressures of life.”
