Mascots from Dallas area professional sports organization and “Tommy the Turkey” to train throughout month of November; local high schools invited to attend.

Let’s get ready to go-o-bble! The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and Capital One Bank today announced their plans for a “Mascot Trot” to be held live on Good Morning Texas, November 21, 2012. The contenders include Dallas Turkey Trot’s lovable mascot, “Tommy the Turkey,” “Rowdy” from the Dallas Cowboys, “Champ” from the Dallas Mavericks, and “Rangers Captain” from the Texas Rangers.

Each of the mascots will have their own exclusive appearance on Good Morning Texas leading up to the big race! Tune in on November 1 to see Rangers Captain, November 8 to see Champ, and November 15 to see Rowdy. All training events will lead up to the official “Mascot Trot” on Victory Plaza, November 21.

All area high schools are invited to join the fun at Victory Plaza on November 21 and cheer on the mascot of their choice (we’re rooting for Tommy!) And be sure to join the conversation online on Twitter and Facebook.

Named by Time Magazine as one of the “Top 5 Fun Runs to Try Now,” the Official Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot attracted nearly 40,000 participants to last year’s event, all while achieving the Guinness Book of World Record’s recognition as the most people dressed as turkeys in one location. This year is expected to be the biggest event yet in Turkey Trot history!

The Trot includes a certified 5K, and a unique 8 mile race distance course. Again this year there is the option for all participants to be chip timed in both the 5k and 8 mile race with a $5 timing charge. Also with their race registration, participants will receive a complimentary 25 visit membership to begin Training for the Trot at a Dallas area YMCA.
