Crown Kia, a part of Crown Automotive Group, is still accepting donations for the Feeding Children Everywhere food packing event to help Tampa Bay's children in need. One in five children in the area is at risk of going hungry today and the event will help provide at least 100,000 nutritious meals for these children.
The event will be held at the Crown Hyundai showroom in St. Petersburg on Saturday, November 17, when volunteers will form assembly lines to package the meals. All three food packing sessions, 10:00 A.M., 11:45 A.M. and 1:30 P.M., are now fully staffed, thanks to generosity of employees and community members who have volunteered to pack the food. However, donations are still being accepted; just 25 cents provides a meal. Community members can donate at: Crown Feeding Children Everywhere.
"We've had an incredible turnout of volunteers. The outpouring of support is truly touching and a testament to the strength of our communities," commented Jim Myers, president and COO of Crown Automotive Group. "But we still need donations to package as many meals as possible for needy children. Working together, we will make a significant positive impact in the lives of Tampa Bay's children who are at risk of going hungry every day. We ask all concerned community members to visit Crown Feeding Children Everywhere to donate funds for the meals. Each dollar donated provides four meals."
Over 500 people have volunteered for the event, far exceeding the minimum number required to fill the food packaging sessions. Crown Automotive staff members will participate, working side-by-side with Crown customers and other giving members of the community. Feeding Children Everywhere workers will also be on hand to form the assembly lines and create excitement with music and entertainment.
Crown is also donating funds from each car sold between now and the event, in addition to customers' sales and service donations, and employee contributions. The packaged meals will be distributed to needy school children in Tampa Bay just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
