Propane Industry Veterans Join ThompsonGas

With the Addition of Daniel Carrigan, John Simcox and Lawrence Young, ThompsonGas is Poised for Greater Growth and Outstanding Customer Service.

Family owned and operated Maryland propane services company ThompsonGas is excited to announce the addition of three experienced industry veterans: Daniel P. Carrigan, John P. Simcox and Lawrence (Larry) M. Young. With the esteemed expertise of these propane heavy hitters, ThompsonGas looks forward to accelerating new growth opportunities, continued customer care, and providing dependable, quality propane service to customers across the country.

A resident of Overland Park, Kan., Daniel P. Carrigan joined ThompsonGas in November 2012 as director of business development. In his new role, Carrigan is responsible for initiating the company’s propane acquisitions. Carrigan has been involved in business development in the propane industry for more than 10 years, most recently as director of business development at Inergy Propane LLC and director of corporate development at Ferrellgas prior to that. For 25 years, he has been involved in mergers and acquisitions, business development, operations, accounting and finance for various industries. Carrigan has a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting, and is involved in various propane industry groups as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

John P. Simcox joined the ThompsonGas team in October 2012 as vice president of business development. In this position, Simcox is instrumental in facilitating retail propane acquisitions throughout the Midwest and Northeast regions of the U.S. Before joining ThompsonGas, Simcox facilitated more than 35 retail propane acquisitions as director of business development for Inergy L.P. Prior to that, Simcox held director of sales and marketing, vice president and management positions at companies including American Welding & Tank (Harsco Co.) and Chemi-Trol Tank Division. Simcox is a member of the National Propane Gas Association, a councilor for the Propane Education & Research Council, past president of the Ohio Propane Gas Association and a member of other state propane gas associations. Simcox graduated from Bluffton University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and currently resides in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

In September 2012, ThompsonGas welcomed Lawrence (Larry) M. Young as project manager. A resident of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., Young’s responsibilities include assisting senior management in developing companywide practices for business analytics, implementation of retail software packages, acquisition integration, and standardization of retail policies and procedures. Young holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and has completed graduate coursework from the University of Massachusetts. Before joining ThompsonGas, Young has held branch and regional management positions with Suburbane Propane, Star Gas Propane and Inergy Propane. Most recently, he served as project manager of Inergy Propane, where he developed uniform business models and converted more than 90 business units into one back office software package. Young is a marketing chairman of the New York Propane Gas Association.
