Pearson International Partners with Knewton to Bring Personalized Learning to Students Worldwide

Knewton Adaptive Learning PlatformTM to enhance Pearson International’s existing digital products.

Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, and education technology pioneer Knewton announced today that their partnership, which began in November 2011, will now extend globally. Currently, selected Pearson MyLab titles in the United States feature the Knewton Adaptive Learning PlatformTM. Under the new agreement, Pearson International titles may also feature Knewton — bringing the power of personalized learning to students worldwide.

The Knewton Adaptive Learning PlatformTM serves as a recommendation engine for learning, analyzing vast data sets in order to serve up the best activity for each student at a particular moment in time. Knewton’s technology identifies each student’s strengths, weaknesses and unique learning style. Taking into account both personal proficiencies and course requirements, the platform continuously tailors learning materials to each student’s exact needs, delivering the most relevant content in the most efficient and effective form. In its first semester with Pearson MyLab products, the Knewton platform has delivered 3-4 million recommendations per week, serving close to 200,000 students at thousands of schools in the US.

Pearson provides educational content, technology and assessment tools across 70 countries. The MyLab and Mastering products are leading digital education products both in North America and around the globe. In 2011, 10 million students registered for the MyLab digital learning program.
