The Grille is a year old restaurant featuring a new concept for fast food. The Grille’s mission is to provide healthy fast food. The restaurant has become known for their signature chicken-on-a-stick and steak-on-a-stick entrees. Herbert Tate Jr. and Anita Tate are the owners of The Grille restaurant located at 3035 Lamar Ave in Memphis, TN. The restaurant has recently been featured in an article written by Michael Donahue of GoMemphis.com and featured on Andy's Restaurant Scorecard by food critic Andy Wise of WMCTV5. Both commentators gave the restaurant raving reviews. When speaking to customers about the restaurant everyone asked commented on the healthy, affordable, great tasting food of The Grille restaurant.
Mr. Tate was taught to grill by his father the late Herbert Tate, Sr. at the young age of 14. Mr. Tate became the family chef grilling for family functions and special occasions before deciding to turn this past time into a business. When asked why grilled chicken instead of fried chicken, Mr. Tate stated, “"It's a better flavor, It's just healthier." An article published by fitday.com discusses the benefits of grilled foods vs. fried foods. The article states, “When foods are fried, they absorb a lot of fat. Even if the food was a low fat item, it ends up with a high fat content when fried. When consumed, it increases the blood cholesterol level. High cholesterol levels pose greater risks to health.” However, “Grilled meats have a reduced fat content. This is because the fat drips off as the food cooks. It results in healthier meals and makes it easier to manage a low fat diet. Grilled foods also have lower calorie content than fried foods. This helps in weight management and keeping fit. Reduced fat intake helps to lower bad cholesterol levels in the blood. Healthy cholesterol levels improve cardiovascular health. Various health conditions such as obesity, stroke, heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes become a risk with fried foods.” This is the main reason the owners of The Grille Restaurant has become committed to providing a healthy menu for their customers.
The Grille’s success has promoted Mr. Tate to bottle up his special chicken seasoning blend for sale. Mr. Tate stated, “The Grille has experienced a 1000% increase in business since hiring of One Hundred Dollar Media and SBNTV1. One Hundred Dollar Media was hired to market The Grille Restaurant products and services. "One Hundred Dollar Media and SBNTV1 has been a vital instrument in my company’s success" say's Mr. Tate. One Hundred Dollar Media has provided me with a unique way to advertise my business. SBNTV1 provided me with our very own Business TV Channel called The Grille Channel. I will be allowing other businesses to advertise on my channel for the low cost of $50.00 - $100.00 per month. This is a revenue sharing program that will pay me for advertising instead of the Grille restaurant paying for advertising, with this program SBNTV1 allows me to create another revenue source for my business. This opportunity also helps my business to be seen worldwide and it provides The Grille Restaurant with a very unique opportunity to advertise on a cross platform of networks for free. This is truly a win-win situation. We are committed to One Hundred Dollar Media and SBNTV1 loyalty program."
The CEO of SBNTV1, Jay Sumlin states, “It only makes since for business owners to get paid for their advertising.” Mr. Sumlin states, “You cannot run a business with a something for nothing attitude. A business has to be ran by Faith (the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen Hebrew 11:1), foresight, instinct and pure guts. These are the ingredients it takes to be a true business owner.” Sumlin, states, “One Hundred Dollar Media and SBNTV1 is the engine behind small business success and the driving force behind the companies we market for. The companys mission is to make clients stars, it’s not about One Hundred Dollar Media or SBNTV1 it's the success of our clients that matter."
Things to watch for with The Grille: Mr. Tate is in the process of distributing his special grilling sauce around the world. He is also expanding the menu to include items; such as, shrimp-on-the-stick and opening additional locations in Mississippi and Arkansas. Hats off to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Tate Jr., their business model has beaten the odds of most startup businesses. According to an article written by Sharon McLoone of the Washington Post, “Most start-ups don't see revenue in their first year of business and more than half show a loss during their first year, according to new data released (pdf) from the Kauffman Foundation.”
