Announces 2013 Blogging Scholarship Contest

College students who write and maintain a blog can submit a 1,000 word essay to be eligible for a $1,000 college scholarship prize that can be used to help pay for tuition, books, or living costs. This annual award is presented by is pleased to announce that it is accepting entries for its annual blogging scholarship to be awarded to the most unique and interesting blog of the year. The grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship that can be used to pay for college necessities, such as books and tuition.

To be eligible for the scholarship students must keep a current blog that is both unique and entertaining; spam bloggers or bloggers that blog primarily to advertise products or websites will not be accepted. All bloggers must be US citizens or permanent residents of the US. Contestants must be enrolled full time in post-secondary education in the US and must allow their name and blog be posted on the Blogging Scholarship page on Participants do not have to blog on their own domain to be eligible, though it is preferred. Other free blogging platforms, such as Typepad and LiveJournal also will be accepted.

To enter, write an essay based on one of the prompts provided on the website’s blogging contest page. Essays should be short and entertaining, and are limited to 1,000 words. If you are not a blogger, but have a talented blogging friend that you think deserves the scholarship, you are welcome to enter their blog in the contest. Simply write the essay explaining why they deserve the scholarship and what makes their blog worth winning.

The 2013 Blogging contest is already underway and entrants are being accepted until November 13, 2013. Voting for contest winners will begin on November 14, 2013 and ends at 12pm PST on November 27, 2013. After voting has closed the winner will be announced on the blog.
