SDG&E, PG&E, PECO, Seattle City Power, Glendale Power & Water, Nashville Electric and more to lead conference sessions

Spintelligent, organizers of the 13th annual Metering, Billing/MDM America conference and the co-located Water Meter Summit, today announced their line-up of confirmed speakers and more event details.

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), consistently recognized as one of the most advanced and progressive utilities in America will host the event, March 12-14, 2012 in San Diego, CA. Their Chairman and CEO Jessie Knight Jr. and President and COO Mike Niggli will provide keynote opening and closing speeches at the conference.

Andres Carvallo, co-author of ”The Advanced Smart Grid” and frequently named a smart grid pioneer and key influencer, will also provide a keynote speech to those attending the Monday workshops.

The workshops announced are a key feature for the event, and comprise a series of four full-day executive education workshops on how to build the business case for distribution grid upgrades, manage the RFP process, structure a smart meter and AMI rollout and engage customers at every stage of process.

All participants will leave with not only this knowledge, but an actual 'how-to' guide customized during the event, which can be taken back to the office and used for their reference, and to prove the ROI of being at the event to their management.

“With budgets being ever more difficult to justify across the utility spectrum, it is important our customers know they will get value for their money and so we’re going to help them prove the ROI of attending this event with best practice business-templates they can take back to the office, and a program focused only on improvements that are readily implementable today,” says Mark Walker, VP North America, Spintelligent.

To help utilities facing budget constraints, the event has also reduced the cost of attendance by over 50% to under $500 for those registering early.

Utilities announced as program session leaders include PG&E, PECO, NV Energy, Seattle City Power, Glendale Power & Water, Nashville Electric, OGE, Reliant Energy, Salt River Project and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E).

"Most every utility in the country is at some stage of considering the benefits of upgrading their distribution grid to meet changing demands,” said Lee Krevat, director of smart grid at SDG&E says of their participation. “This is a clearly focused program that helps decision makers and implementation teams to understand the best path forward for success. We’re pleased to have several SDG&E speakers sharing their experience of our own smart grid projects.”
