Community Radiology Expands in Frederick with New Open MRI

Community Radiology, the Washington D.C. area's largest medical imaging provider, now offers Open MRI in Frederick, MD. Open MRI provides greater convenience and comfort for patients needing an MRI, especially larger patients and those tending to have claustrophobia.

Community Radiology Associates (CRA) now operates an Open MRI center in Frederick, MD that formerly was owned by Progressive Radiology. This makes the fourth imaging center operated by CRA in Frederick, providing increased convenience and comfort for patients. In all, CRA now operates 19 imaging centers in Frederick, Montgomery, Prince Georges and Charles counties.

“Open MRI is excellent for patients that suffer from claustrophobia or that are too large to fit in a traditional MRI,” says Paul Schaefer, M.D., president of CRA. “We’re pleased to offer it to our patients in Frederick. In our 19 imaging centers, CRA offers a variety of advanced MRI options, from high-strength magnets, such as 3T, to high field strength and wide-bore Open MRI.”
