The no-compromise approach in Windows 8 provides tremendous opportunity for the enterprise, allowing employees to seamlessly connect between a tablet out in the field and their PC back at the office.

Sonoma Partners, a leading Microsoft Dynamics CRM consultancy with expertise in enterprise mobility, announced today the development of the first-ever Windows 8 tablet app for the enterprise.

Developed exclusively for New Belgium Brewing, the app, called “Ultimate Beer Ranger,” is a mobile utility for the company’s sales teams. The Ultimate Beer Ranger app synchronizes with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, allowing New Belgium representatives to access up-to-date data on retail partners and establishments that sell New Belgium beer in real time. Among the app’s features:

  •     Built-in search to rapidly scan accounts within the system
  •     Weekly calendar complete with appointment scheduling
  •     Instant access to volume and sales figures and other key metrics
  •     Geolocation capabilities that show accounts within a predetermined radius
  •     Customer profiles with the option to import photos straight from the tablet

Company representatives can also record notes, dates and other information following a client visit, and the information is immediately stored in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

“New Belgium Brewing chose Sonoma Partners to provide a more customized look and feel for a mobile application than currently exists in the marketplace,” said Phil Benstein, project manager at New Belgium. “Sonoma’s deep knowledge of CRM and New Belgium business practices allowed us to produce an application that aligns with our brand and its core values. Utilizing cutting-edge technologies provided by Windows 8 and next-generation tablets, our sales team now can share and use information in ways that tangibly increase our effectiveness in the field.”

Sonoma Partners builds and customizes enterprise apps for specific use cases. For New Belgium Brewing, that means equipping its field service teams with the right information in the right format in the context that they need it.

“Mobile technology is uniquely positioned to handle many of the challenges businesses face, particularly for field service and field sales teams,” said Jim Steger, principal of Sonoma Partners. “At Sonoma Partners, we work with organizations to develop and customize mobile solutions that benefit their bottom line, whether that means the need for better visibility into the pipeline or easier access to customer accounts.”

“The no-compromise approach in Windows 8 provides tremendous opportunity for the enterprise, allowing employees to seamlessly connect between a tablet out in the field and their PC back at the office,” said Aidan Marcuss, senior director of Windows Core Marking and Ecosystem at Microsoft. “Companies are looking to deliver on Windows 8 capabilities to invigorate their mobile workforces.”

New Belgium Brewing will present the Ultimate Beer Ranger app at Microsoft Dynamics Convergence 2012, which takes place March 18 through 21 in Houston, Texas.
