350,000 Tax Practitioners Prepare for the RTRP Exam

The IRS estimates that approximately 350,000 people may be initially subject to the new Registered Tax Return Preparer test requirement. CPE Link is ready with an online exam preparation course to help these practitioners pass the test!

To assist this huge group of tax preparers with passing the new 120-question test, CPE Link has launched exam preparation courses in both live webcast and on-demand format, The test focuses on individual income tax return (Form 1040) topics and establishes a minimal competency level for those who prepare and sign tax returns. Those who ultimately pass the test will earn the Registered Tax Preparer (RTRP) designation and be deemed to have a working knowledge of the tax code. Tax preparers have until December 31, 2013, to pass the test.

CPE Link will hold its first live Registered Tax Return Preparer Course in two four-hour segments on May 15 and 17. The course will be taught by veteran tax practitioner and Enrolled Agent, Eva Rosenberg. The exam prep course will include coverage of the subjects included in the exam--plus essential testing tips. Topics include: Preliminary Work and Collection of Taxpayer Data, Overview of the 1040 and Related Parts, Exemptions and Filing Requirements, Treatment of Income and Assets, Adjustments to Income, Deductions, Credits and Other Taxes.

To aid this group of practitioners in their transition into the brave new world of mandatory continuing education, the live webcast exam prep course will also count towards the RTRP’s 15 hour continuing education requirement for 2012.
