Our team is happy that, after almost seven years of being told that we couldn’t keep the site free for all users, we are still adding more value to our members and still do not charge any fees.

WhyAbe.com, a free set of e-sourcing tools powered by Source One Management Services, LLC, has yet again reinvented itself, with its newest release on March 28, 2012. With this release, Source One delivers WhyAbe users a completely redesigned interface and several new features in order to build a more streamlined, less complicated experience for end users. As the web’s only completely free e-sourcing tool, WhyAbe.com changes the familiar and established B2B and B2C relationship by placing the power into the Buyer’s hands, providing a collaborative capability for businesses to communicate their requirements directly to vendors who can meet their needs. WhyAbe.com allows buyers to create requests for proposal, requests for quotes, and reverse auctions; and utilizes a revolutionary keyword matching system to automatically identify suggested suppliers who may want to participate in the event. Buyers can use preregistered suppliers, or can invite their own to participate in events at no cost. Suppliers can find new business, get new sales leads, and can showcase their company with a free profile and product catalog.
New enhancements benefit both the buying community and the suppliers that service them. The free site just added new ways for its users to benefit from registering. Buyers may now increase the exposure of their event by sharing it via social media links plugins to sites like Facebook, Google, Twitter, and more. Suppliers can use those same tools to promote their new public profiles, as well as make the world aware of the catalog. The new supplier catalog feature allows suppliers to showcase products and services that they sell, providing descriptive information, pricing, hyperlinks and photos. Buyers can explore supplier catalogs and profiles and save the supplier’s contact information in order to later invite them to an RFP or Reverse Auction event.
In response to specific government procurement officer requests, a new third-type, of Reverse Auction event has been added. This new event type, called a Tender Opener, does not allow the buyer to see which supplier is placing bids during the actual live auction, which satisfies a new regulation in certain government buying agencies. Additionally, buyers now have complete control in any reverse auction, and can revoke mistaken supplier bids, or provide access to the suppliers to do it themselves.
The dashboard has been reorganized to clarify different tools available to both buyers and suppliers including an improved overview screen which provides more information at a glance. Users of the site can now use the “About Me” feature to describe themselves, network, and provide links to personal websites or social media profiles. WhyAbe.com now supports user customized time zones. Local preferences can be set so that users do not need to worry about missing a bidding opportunity in a different time zone.
“We are extremely pleased with our newest release of WhyAbe.com. Our new design and user interface makes it much easier to use, and our new features have been created specifically at the request of our existing end users. More importantly, our latest release has now laid the groundwork for many exciting new features and enhancements which will be rolling out in greater frequency in the near future,” said William Dorn, Site Administrator for WhyAbe.com and Vice President of Operations for Source One Management Services, LLC. “Our team is happy, that after almost seven of being told that we couldn’t keep the site free for all users, we are still adding more value to our members and still do not charge any fees,” he added.
