Advanta Tuff-Seal™ Interlocking Floor Tile is the first flooring product to enhance its sustainability using BioVinyl™, made with DOW ECOLIBRIUM™ bio-based plasticizer.
Introduced in 2002, Advanta Tuff-Seal tiles feature a patented hidden interlock system that creates a secure, water-tight surface, require no adhesive, minimal subfloor prep, and are easily installed in any commercial, industrial or institutional interior area.
Made from virtually 100% renewable ingredients, DOW ECOLIBRIUM™ bio-based plasticizers are derived from the non-food portion of crops, whereas other corn-based bioplastics potentially draw from the food supply. When used in flexible vinyl compounds, DOW ECOLIBRIUM™ helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 40% if used instead of traditional phthalate ester-based PVC plasticizers.
Advanta Tuff-Seal with DOW ECOLIBRIUM™ is 70% derived from natural resources (salt, minerals and plants) and formulated without the use of phthalates or lead. Tuff-Seal materials have a 33% lower carbon footprint, while the product has enhanced dimensional stability at high and low temperatures, improved color-hold, UV resistance and recyclability, and is potentially eligible for LEED points. Tuff-Seal also retains all of its existing performance and physical properties, including slip, chemical and fire resistance.
Advanta Tuff-Seal’s new BioVinyl™ formulation was developed by Teknor Apex Company.
