This savvy move by Google will definitely encourage more businesses to incorporate Google+ in their social media marketing plan.
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) May 30, 2012
Google has announced today that it is replacing Google Places, the local online search giant, with Google+ Local. Google+ Local can be found on the left side of the Google+ home page.
Here are the three main changes with Google+ Local:
- The integration and free availability of Zagat reviews
- The integration of Google+ Local pages across Google properties (search, Maps, mobile)
- Integration of a circles filter to find reviews/recommendations from friends/family/colleagues
"We see definite improvements in the Google+ Local rollout," says social media marketing company Black Box Social Media Co- Founder Curt Maly. "This savvy move by Google will definitely encourage more businesses to incorporate Google+ in their social media marketing plan."
Perhaps the biggest improvement to Google+ Local is the incorporation of Zagat for reviews. According to its blog: "For years, Zagat has provided trustworthy, concise, user-generated reviews, and we are excited to bring these to Google+ Local. We’ve also updated our scoring system to Zagat’s time-tested 30-point scale, so that users can better share their view about what makes a place unique."
This move means that businesses will want to focus on and provide incentives for reviews from customers.
"We've been touting for months the importance of utilizing Google+ Brand Pages and local online search directories into a marketing plan," says Black Box Social Media Co-Creator Nick Bridges. "This move by Google cements the importance of combining local search with social media in order to get your business found online by potential customers."
Black Box Social Media also created the all in one do it yourself training program called 'Social Media In 7 Minutes', which provides over 50 step by step videos on how to create, optimize, and use social sites like Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Youtube as well as local online search directories.
