Mining organizations are well aware of the environmental impact of their operations and strive to use the safest and most environmentally friendly methods. Houghton International offers a solution with Cosmolubric B-230 vegetable oil-based hydraulic fluid, which provides an affordable means for mining companies to eliminate environmental concerns associated with mineral oil-based fluids.
A low-cost alternative to conventional hydraulic fluids, Cosmolubric B-230 performs equal to or better than all other mineral-based or synthetic hydraulic fluids used in the mining industry. It has the lubricity, pump life and oxidative stability typically associated with costly synthetic polyol ester fluids.
The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration has approved Cosmolubric B-230 as a permissible fire-resistant hydraulic fluid (MSHA Approval No. 30-21-9). It resists ignition and is less flammable in the event of a hydraulic line rupture. Cosmolubric B-230 is also readily biodegradable and approved by Factory Mutual as a less hazardous fluid.
Additionally, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has granted Cosmolubric B-230 bio-preferred product status. This labeling certifies Cosmolubric B-230 is composed in whole, or in significant part, of biological products, renewable agricultural materials or forestry materials.
