Online retailer & manufacturer of residential dog doors and cat doors rallies support for MDA fundraiser.

America’s Finest Pet Doors, the authority in dog doors and cat doors for walls, windows, and residential entryways, is a proud participant in the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s jailbird fundraiser program. The jailbird fundraiser entails having notable community and business leaders go ‘behind bars’ as they try to raise funds for neuromuscular diseases and make bail.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association strives to combat neuromuscular diseases through a variety of outreach programs and worldwide research initiatives. MDA is at the forefront of gene therapy research and is the leading supporter of neuromuscular research across the globe. The MDA jailbird fundraiser is one of the MDA’s innovative approaches to fundraising, where community members and leaders are encouraged to go to ‘lock-up’ for having a ‘big heart’. Each jailbird runs an individual campaign, requesting others to show their support and help them make bail.

The San Luis Obispo-based organization gladly supports the fundraiser, garnering support from friends, family, co-workers, and partner organizations to help reach their personalized fundraising goal. Patio Pacific utilized their company website, as well as social networks, to distribute the fundraising page and request donations from supporters. Patio Pacific has witnessed avid support throughout the fundraising process, quickly nearing their bail goal. Patio Pacific’s efforts have helped two individuals coping with neuromuscular disorders finance medical equipment repairs for the coming year.

Alan Lethers, owner and president of PetDoors.com and parent company Patio Pacific, recently became a member of the Rotary Club and saw significant value in their ‘service over self’ motto. Determined to apply this motto through business and personal endeavors, Lethers’ gladly accepted the jailbird challenge.

Lethers has marketed and overseen production on pet doors for sliding glass doors since the mid-1970s. Lethers’ company has evolved from one niche product to a full line of pet door solutions that can be installed in windows, walls, screen doors, and conventional doors around the home. Pet Doors’ standout innovation, the Endura Flap, has revolutionized modern pet door technology.

About Patio Pacific:
Founded by Alan Lethers in 1976, Patio Pacific – the parent company of America’s Finest Pet Doors and PetDoors.com – manufacturers and distributes dog doors and cat doors online.

Lethers’ initial break into the market came with a new type of pet door--the 'panel' pet door for sliding glass door. This new product, the 'Instant' Pet Door, was the first of it's kind to offer an adjustable height capability that was necessary because of the varying dimensions of sliding glass door tracks.

Over three decades later, Patio Pacific & America’s Finest Pet Doors have risen from a niche prototype & market to become one the nation’s premier retailer & trusted manufacturer of pet doors for dogs & cats.
