Houston Blow Pipe, part of the AGI family of companies, a carbon plate rolling and forming service center located in Houston, TX, has implemented the metal service center software STRATIX from the metal industry software specialist Invera. STRATIX was implemented using the ON-DEMAND hosting service.

Houston Blow Pipe implemented a full complement of STRATIX features such as on-line sales order entry, purchase and receiving functions, multi-step processing functions, welded assemblies, and multi-company function. They also use integrated financials functions for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger.

Houston Blow Pipe & AGI implemented STRATIX/MULTICO, a STRATIX multi-company option used by enterprises that include a group of companies operating with STRATIX. With MULTICO, each company can be set up as a separate legal entity and operate on the same or different servers. MULTICO enables Houston Blow Pipe and AGI to be "connected" for additional synergies.

The multi-company function includes a ‘consolidated stock inquiry’ that allows users in any company to view the stock across the enterprise in a single view. This avoids having to login to each company separately in order to view stock. The second function automates arms length transactions between the two legal entities, including purchasing/sales and shipment/receipt of material.

The sales department benefited from the on-line Order Status Inquiry, which allows their sales staff to provide the status of the customer’s Sales Order at a single glance. This includes processing, shipping, and invoicing status and other information.

The Houston Blow Pipe production department is making full use of the on-line Production Planning functions to plan the production of cans, cones, and assemblies. Production of the cans and cones includes the creation of a multi-step production job in STRATIX to flame cut the plate, a layout function to mark for the bends, pre-bend steps, bevelling, press break and/or rolling, tack weld, full sub-arc weld, and inspection steps that include x-ray inspections.

Houston Blow Pipe chose the STRATIX ON-DEMAND hosting service to allow them to focus on their core metal operations and outsource their technology operational requirements to Invera. With this service, all software applications and data are hosted at the Invera Technology Center.
