New service brings easy, robust user security to any developer on any platform.

Stormpath, Inc. ( / @goStormpath) announced today that it has won the People's Choice Award and was runner up for the Judges' Award at GigaOm’s LaunchPad Structure event. Widely attended by cloud infrastructure leaders, analysts, and investors, Structure is the largest and most influential conference in the cloud computing industry. During the competition, the company launched public beta of its user security service, and announced pricing and inital customers.

"Recognition like this from the cloud infrastructure community really demonstrates the need for plug-and-play user security,” said CEO and co-founder Alex Salazar. "Our goal is to make it easy for any application developer to enable best-in-class identity, access control and user security in any application. The positive response during private beta -- and today at launch from the audience and judges -- is very rewarding for our team.”

Stormpath automates authentication, user and group modeling, password management, and access control via a rich developer API and a web console for non-technical admins. In addition, Stormpath automates painful workflows like password reset, account verification, audit logging, and security checks that engineers don’t like to build, and that often expose security holes. The service supports cloud, mobile, on premise, and hybrid environments, so companies large and small can scale their stacks securely. Stormpath protects any developer, in any application, on any platform, with one security API.

Stormpath's core service is free. Extended features, such as audit logging, statistics, and LDAP/Active Directory start at only $10/month, giving developers of all applications access to best-in-class security.

Stormpath's founding team also started and provides commercial and community support for Apache Shiro, the leading open source Java security framework.
