Starter Stories For The Very Young Reader is a helpful tool that can aid children in enhancing their reading skills. Created by author Lorraine Drougas, this book reveals short stories, which are intended to make learning creative, imaginative and fun. Drougas’ experience for over two decades in teaching public schools has led her to a keen and in depth understanding of how children learn. Hence it has allowed her to determine which educational materials suit them best.
Based on the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) findings, out of the 10 million children with reading difficulties, 10 to 15 percent eventually drop out of high school. Also, surveys of adolescents and young adults with criminal records show that about half of this population has reading difficulties. This information suggests the critical importance of inculcating a positive reading and comprehension skills foundation for children. Starter Stories for The Very Young Reader is an educational material that aids the next generation in bouncing back from this devastating and problematic literacy issue.
Although author Lorraine Drougas believes that children should not be forced into reading at too early an age, she also acknowledges that for those who exhibit an extreme inclination to reading, her book is a suitable selection. An introduction to a new learning experience, Starter Stories For The Very Young Reader enhances the cognitive growth and development of young minds.
This book will be featured at the 2012 Beijing Book Fair in Beijing, China, on August 29-September 2, 2012.
