Virgin Media launches Dark Knight Rises TiVo app
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 24 July 2012
Today ( Monday 23rd of July) sees the general release of the most eagerly anticipated of all Batman movies, Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” which premiered in Leicester Square to critical acclaim last Wednesday. This is the third and final of the Dark Knight trilogy as Nolan brings down the final curtain on this epic tale.
To celebrate the occasion Virgin Media has launched The Dark Knight App for its TiVo service.
If you haven’t encountered Virgin Media's TiVo service before; it is a new way of experiencing dtv (digital tv). Users can watch ordinary TV, catch-up TV, on-demand movies and use web applications such as Twitter. Also they can pause and rewind live TV and can record three programmes at the same time whilst viewing one recorded earlier.
The Dark Night app was developed in collaboration with Legendary Pictures and Warner Brothers and it allows customers who subscribe to Virgin Media’s TiVo service to view clips and trailers from all three of Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies.
They can also view a large collection of pictures shot during the production of the movies along with interviews with several of the stars and film crew. The Dark Knight Rises has a number of new characters which you can read about with the app. These include Bane, a terrorist who is devoted to the destruction of Gotham City.
If you need to catch up on the previous batman movies then you can do so using virgin Media’s movies on demand.
The first of these was Batman Begins which was released in 2005 with Christian Bale as Batman. It retells the original Batman story though with a somewhat darker ambience. The movie proved to be both a critical masterpiece and box office success.
This was followed in 2008 by the release of “The Dark Night”, again with Christian Bale as Batman, but for many the real star of the film was the late great Heath Ledger as The Joker. He played the role with stunning brilliance, but sadly he died six months before the film’s release. The movie received critical acclaim including eight Academy Award nominations and became the twelfth all time grossing movie.
In “The Dark Knight Rises” Christopher Bale is again cast as Batman. He has been away from Gotham City for many years. During that time the life in the city has been peaceful and harmonious; there has been no sign of the Dark Night. But - enter Selina Kyle, played by Anne Hathaway, a glamorous sexy cat burglar, and her associate, the villainous and sinister Bane, played by Tom Hardy, and the intrigue and action begins.
This is a powerful epic movie of Wagnerian proportions, so watch the clips on TiVo; you won’t be disappointed.
