“It’ll be fun to watch this thing take off the next few months,” said Huret. "Did I mention it was free?"

“We are bringing the Manufactured in North Carolina online directory (http://www.ManufacturedNC.com) to the Queen City!” proudly exclaimed Nathan Huret, Existing Industry Coordinator for the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) (http://www.catawbaedc.org) in Hickory, North Carolina.
“Charlotte will be our jumping off point to reach 1,000 North Carolina manufacturers enrolled on Manufactured in North Carolina by the end of October,” continued Huret. “It’s only natural that the next step we take to grow Manufactured in North Carolina to 1,000 manufacturers is to integrate ourselves into the city’s extremely strong manufacturing environment, teeming with everything from motorsports suppliers to major defense contractors, and of course Charlotte’s skyrocketing energy manufacturing cluster,” said Huret.
“We got 400 manufacturers listed right away focusing on the western part of the state, but 1,000 manufacturers would create a very robust directory of companies for any potential supply chain,” said Huret. “At 1,000 companies you could search for anything from companies that can commercially dehydrate vegetables to someone that manufactures blimps and get back at least several possible suppliers in each case,” he joked.
Formed by a partnership of CCEDC, three other North Carolina counties, the NC State University Industrial Extension Service (http://www.ies.ncsu.edu) and funded by the North Carolina Rural Center, the Manufactured in North Carolina website will “host” a free webpage for every North Carolina manufacturer that subscribes. That's right, at absolutely no cost, each manufacturing will be provided with an individual webpage -- their own searchable, online snapshot of their manufacturing abilities, current customer industries, on down to specifics like brand names and lists of manufacturing equipment.
“The company’s webpage really becomes the means to be showcased across the street, the country and even the world,” exclaimed Huret, “because at the same time we are spending a significant amount of marketing dollars on behalf of these companies,” Huret interjected. “North Carolina's manufacturers get exposure to worldwide markets and they do not owe us a dime; just the 10 minutes to enroll. I am not sure any deal gets any better than that.”
“It’ll be fun to watch this thing take off the next few months,” said Huret. "Did I mention it was free?"
From now until August 31, 2013, North Carolina manufacturers who list their companies on the free Manufactured in North Carolina online directory will receive a MNC T-shirt, also for free. Those manufacturers already signed up will receive a free T-shirt when they get a manufacturing buddy to sign up.
