JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (PRWEB) August 06, 2012
On May 22, 2011, Joplin, Mo., was hit by a tornado, historic in size. The path it left changed the city and its inhabitants forever. In “Singing Over Me: A Joplin Tornado Survivor's Journey” (published by WestBow Press, April 2012) Danielle C. Stammer reveals how her family survived the Joplin tornado and recounts the emotions and choices they made to get their family through the tornado and the following days, weeks and months.
While “Singing Over Me” tells an honest and heart-wrenching account of one of the costliest natural disasters to hit America’s Midwest, the book also speaks in broad strokes of overcoming any personal hardship. Stammer, through her story of loss and recovery, encourages readers to trust in their fortitude and in the fortitude of those around them.
“Everyone walks dark roads and experiences loss, grief, confusion, suffering,” remarks Stammer. “‘Singing Over Me’ walks these roads honestly and offers hope and inspiration.”
An excerpt from the book:
“Once inside, she turned around and immediately realized she would not be taking a second trip to the car. After pulling his barefoot little girl out of the car and up to his chest, Andrew went around the front of the van. The wind had gotten strong fast. Danielle watched him hunched over, struggling against the wind to get to safety, only to realize safety wasn’t safe.”
