Sutton has seen a record number of business start-ups during July, according to company formation expert Duport.co.uk.

Development projects are planned for Sutton

Sutton is a truly excellent place for new businesses to set up, with a solid economy that looks set to grow in the future.

Vince Cable recently declared Sutton to be in “pretty healthy shape”, and the record number of new company formations in July would seem to back his statement up.

Sutton saw 5 new businesses start up during the month of July, beating any other July on record. The half year tally for Sutton was also record-breaking, with 446 companies being set up between January and July, more than any other first six months in the past.

Speaking at ‘Opportunity Sutton’, a conference highlighting investment opportunities in the area, Mr Cable praised the fact that Sutton has one of the highest business start-up rates in the country and an unemployment rate under 3%.

There are several development projects planned in Sutton, including a new mixed-use site on the Felnex trading estate. The idea behind this project is to create a mix of housing, working and retail facilities that will encourage sustainable living. There are also plans to develop a 5.57 acre site on the Kimpton Industrial Park with bespoke accommodation for large scale industry and warehouses.

Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis said:

“Sutton is a truly excellent place for new businesses to set up, with a solid economy that looks set to grow in the future. I suspect the record level of new company formation in July will be broken before very long.”

With the backing of Vince Cable and several exciting developments in the pipeline, new companies in Sutton can look forward to a bright future.
