Carmelo's Italian Restaurant will be holding their 7th annual auction and dinner fundraising event at Carmelo's, and Mary Poe, RNC MSN, the Administrative Director of Women's and Children's Services at Women's Memorial Hermann in Memorial City, will be the guest speaker.
The Marvin and Juanita Smith Learning Center of Excellence is a non-profit program that educates teen girls and boys in an effort to greatly reduce promiscuity, pregnancies, and sexually transmitted infections among teens. Encouraging teens to graduate from high school and further their education is a strong emphasis of the MJSLCE program.
"We are happy to support the Marvin and Juanita Smith Learning Centers of Excellence with their educational programs to prevent teen pregnancy," said Carmelo Mauro, founder of Carmelo's Ristortante Italiano. Tickets for the auction and fundraising event are $60.00 per person or $480.00 for a table of eight. For reservations, call (281) 531-0696.
Carmelo's Italian Restaurant is also participating in the national Dine Out for No Kid Hungry restaurant campaign to fight child hunger. During the week of September 16-22, Carmelo's Italian Restaurant will donate 10% of the total bill for guests who mention this campaign when making a reservation.
One final event announcement for Carmelo's takes place on Sunday, September 27 at 6:30 for their "Vino and Truffles" wine and food pairing. For this event, five extraordinary courses featuring Piedmont Truffle dishes and Prunotto wines, highlighting Barolo 2008, will be offered for $85 per person, plus tax and gratuities. Purchasing tickets quickly is encouraged as seating is limited for this event.
