Austin based TOEVK Enterprises, LLC will host Guinness World Records at their October 27th Adventure Run to oversee an attempt to gather the most zombies in one place on earth and crown Austin as the walking-dead capital. The zombie themed mud run is expected to draw thousands of participants.

The zombie apocalypse is coming to Austin, Texas October 27th as TOEVK Enterprises hosts an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest zombie gathering on earth during their zombie themed Adventure Run. The 5k obstacle and mud-filled course will have runners dodging the undead as they race for the finish line.

TOEVK promotes a positive lifestyle by offering participation in seasonally themed Adventure Runs. While zombies are a fitting theme for the October run, other Austin area events hosted by the company include a February couples race and a St. Patrick’s Day race complete with green beer and green mud.

“We develop, coordinate and host non-traditional, athletic-based competition for entertainment and to promote a healthy, active lifestyle,” Stephen White, CEO of TOEVK, said. “Our events are a healthy and affordable alternative to traditional fitness programs and provide participants with another measuring stick by which to test their physical health.”

Beyond advocating a healthy lifestyle, TOEVK also has resisted large sponsors in order to focus on local business in an attempt to keep their events tied to the grassroots of the Austin community. Much of the proceeds from each event are put back into the company in the form of prizes for participants of the next race.

This attempt to break the world record for most zombies has been officially registered with Guinness World Records. The current record stands at 4,093 zombies that came together for the New Jersey Zombie Walk on October 30, 2010. Tom White, president of TOEVK, said he is positive that record will be broken.

“We are looking forward to making Austin, Texas the official Zombie Capital of America this Halloween,” he said.

Registration for the run is open now at People can register online to run the race for $70 or register to be a zombie for $25. Runners will be given life flags to wear that registered zombies will try to snag as participants navigate the course. Sign in will begin a 7 a.m. on the day of the race with the first wave of runners leaving at 9 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female runners who finish the race with at least one life flag still attached. The fastest runner in each division will be awarded a large flat-screen TV, with runner-ups receiving gift cards worth $250 and $150, respectively. The grand prize is a trip for two to Las Vegas, which will be awarded through a general drawing that all participants can enter.
