Desalination of Unconventional Produced Water
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) September 10, 2012
The American Filtration and Separations Society(AFS) will be holding its’ Fall Technical Conference & Exhibition on October 15-18, 2012 at the Embassy Suites Hotel Airport in Philadelphia, PA. The theme for this conference is “Solid – Fluid Separation – Innovation in Research and Applications”
One of the keynote addresses will be “Desalination of Unconventional Produced Water”, presented by Ron Bosch of Champion Technologies, Houston, TX.
Water used in, and produced from, completion and production of unconventional oil and gas plays is becoming an internationally recognized water treatment issue. The technology associated with treating this water is blurring the lines between industrial and produced water treatment like never before. This presentation discusses the issues associated with treating water produced from unconventional resources using filtration and reverse osmosis technology. It is particularly focused in outlining the particular problems inherent in treating water associated with the production of oil and gas.
Ron Bosch is the Water Treatment Team Leader for Champion Technologies, a manufacturer and supplier of specialty chemicals to the oil and gas industry. Ron has been treating water for use, re-use, and disposal since 1983. He has worked in water treatment and phase separation with Champion since 1994. In his current position he is responsible to provide technical support on all types of water treatment issues. He is heavily involved in Champion's programs to treat waters for use in fracturing, as well as treating both flowback and produced water from conventional and unconventional oil and gas production, including both tight gas and oil.
