Liferay, Inc., provider of the world’s leading enterprise-class open source portal, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Leaders Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals.

Gartner, a leading information technology research and advisory company, placed Liferay in the Leaders Quadrant based on completeness of vision and ability to execute on that vision. Find the full report on Gartner’s site.

“Liferay has been able to quickly add multiple dimensions to its platform over the last year, leading to impressive growth in both community participation and new customer sales,” said Bryan Cheung, CEO of Liferay. “We believe our unique combination of innovation, business agility, and lower total cost of ownership will continue to drive our growth and further establish Liferay as a leading agile and full-featured portal platform. We are happy to be recognized by Gartner and look forward to another strong year in 2013.”

Gartner analysts noted in the annual report: “The Leaders in this Magic Quadrant have a full range of capabilities to support a variety of portal deployment scenarios, and have demonstrated consistent product delivery in meeting customer needs for a substantial period of time. Leaders have delivered significant product innovation over the course of their pursuit of portal customers, and have been successful in selling to new customers across industries.”

In 2012, Liferay launched Liferay Portal 6.1 EE, the latest version of Liferay’s flagship portal product with new non-developer features such as workflow-powered Web Forms, which allow power users to build web forms that model business processes online. The portal provider extended the platform’s capabilities with the additions of Liferay Social Office 2.0 CE for out-of-the-box collaboration projects, Liferay Sync for desktop and mobile synchronization with the Liferay document repository, and Liferay Marketplace, an online enterprise app store. Liferay also introduced four new cloud-based partnerships, making deployment of Liferay Portal in the cloud even easier.
