"We have had extremely positive feedback from our customers, contractors and focus goups and we are very excited to tap into this market to provide a more compelling and attractive alternative to what is currently available today."

Evolve Composites’ newest plant in Hancock, Maryland is up and running to produce its biggest item on the market today, the Handi-Block Lightweight Concrete Deck Piers. While the facility manufactures and stocks many other home improvement and HVAC items, it is the primary manufacturing plant of this industry leading product. Evolve’s Handi-Block is a proven alternative to the traditional deck block on the market today because of its durability and lightweight attributes.
“Handi-Block is an Ultra Lightweight, Precast Concrete Deck Pier made of a special formula that utilizes concrete and recycled poly fibers to create a product that is super strong and produces a much smaller carbon footprint,” said Director of Sales for Evolve’s Home Improvement and Building Materials Division, Steve Rizoti. “Each Handi-Block weighs about 18 pounds compared to other concrete deck blocks made of traditional concrete and aggregate which can weigh up to 48 pounds. They are light to make it easier for the consumer to handle and transport,” he continued.
The Handi-Block has a variety of practical uses for the home improvement DIY customer or contractor. They are a proven multi-purpose foundation block used for a broad range of projects that include garden sheds, decks, patios and more, Rizoti explained. “We have had extremely positive feedback from our contractors, customers and focus groups,” he said, “and we are very excited to tap into this market to provide a more compelling and attractive alternative to what is currently available today. The inquiries are pouring in. I’m happy with Handi-Block’s sales velocity as it continues to pick up momentum throughout the U.S. as well as its growing interest from Canada and the United Kingdom.”
“This is just the beginning of our launch into the home improvement market,” Rizoti explained. “With the help of our innovative Evo-Crete technology, we will be introducing two more exciting products later this summer and early fall.”
The newest innovative addition in the Evolve lineup is the Evolve Garden Block, which is a non engineered, lightweight block made up of the advanced Evo-Crete formula that provides superior strength at a fraction of the weight of traditional garden blocks and edgers. The Evolve Garden Block will be available in two face designs, a stacked stone and a tumbled stone, as well as offered in 3 natural earth-tone colors.
Shortly thereafter, Evolve will be introducing into the marketplace an innovative fire pit/landscape ring. “This will offer the home improvement market something truly different. When stacked, it will create a fire pit that can stay in place on a permanent basis or can easily be disassembled and moved to another location or stored away until the next ‘camp fire’ opportunity. When assembled in a single layer they can be used as very attractive lawn edging around trees.” Rizoti said. “These are both products that should create a lot of excitement and perform very well within the home improvement market, and we are very excited about the upcoming introductions.”
Evolve Composites manufactures their products with Evo-Crete, which is a fiber reinforced cellular concrete. This technology creates a dynamic cellular structure with a fiber reinforcement to provide extreme strength and durability while weighing up to three times less than traditional aggregate based concrete. Other products manufactured by Evolve Composites utilizing Evo-Crete Lightweight Concrete technology include: Evo-Steps Pavers, Polyslab Utility Base Equipment Pad. Evo-Crete Generator Pads, Evo-Crete Hurricane Pads, Evo-Crete HVAC Equipment Pads, Evo-Slab HVAC Equipment Pads, Evo-Lite HVAC Equipment Pads and Polyslab Equipment Pads. Evolve Composites also distributes a variety of PVC pipe and PVC fitting products, as well as innovative accessories such as the Magjumper, which is a magnetic tipped testing and troubleshooting lead.
