Since joining the popular social network, Folio Society has amassed a loyal following.

Who says that print book publishing isn’t in tune with the digital age? The Folio Society, creator of beautifully illustrated classic books, has now reached and surpassed 6,000 followers on the popular social network Twitter.

The Folio Society was founded over 60 years ago and specializes in producing high quality collectors’ edition books, from classic literature to favourite children’s tales. Each edition is illustrated by a specially-commissioned artist who re-creates famous scenes in colour, beauty and detail, or with a range of carefully-researched period artworks and photgoraphy. When making a Folio Society book, every aspect is taken into account: from custom and specially-selected typography, to illustration, binding style and paper stock, to make sure that the book becomes a work of art that does justice to both the author and the reader.

Founded in San Francisco, Twitter is a real-time information network that allows users to access the latest information out there. Often named as a form of “micro-blogging,” Twitter has been embraced by companies big and small, in order to reach current fans, customers and new prospects. As of 2012, there are 500 million registered users.

The Folio Society, a company specializing in the classic medium of high quality, hand-crafted print, has embraced this new technology as a way to reach out to and engage with book lovers, physical book collectors, customers and potential customers. Having already broadcasted over 3,700 tweets and with over 6,000 followers, it’s safe to say that The Folio Society is embracing the digital age. So what does Folio Society tweet? Anything related to books: book and author news, announcements of its contests and new releases, as well as fun book facts, quotes and trivia. Of course, The Folio Society also loves to interact with its followers!

From adult literary fiction titles such as Fahrenheit 451, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Beowulf, Anna Karenina, to children’s classics such as Charlotte’s Web, Pinocchio, and a select range of limited edition books such as The King James Bible, Moby-Dick, there’s something for every type of reader. While Folio Society is a U.K.-based company, book lovers all over the world can also enjoy beautifully-crafted wares available for purchase, as they ship internationally.
