Tampa International Airport Commits to Soft Play Areas on Every Airside

Not only are the play areas great for parents, other passengers appreciate that young travelers are happily occupied. They improve the flying experience for everyone.

One of the world’s most-loved airports is in the midst of many changes, including a commitment to provide soft playgrounds at every airside. “Parents tell us those play areas are a life saver,” says Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano. “They’re a key part of our great customer service.” Toward that end, TIA asked PLAYTIME, LLC to create something special for its youngest flyers.

As international service grows at Tampa International Airport (TIA) and the airport adds new concessions, upgrades worth more than $60 million are in the works. The renovations will improve security flow and baggage handling, modernize the overall look of the main terminal and add local flavor to dining and retail options.

But keeping the airport family friendly is also a top priority. TIA recently installed two play areas designed, manufactured and installed by PLAYTIME, LLC, the global provider of unique, interactive, healthy play areas and playground equipment for indoor, outdoor and water play. Some of TIA’s soft play areas are aviation-themed and naturally anti-bacterial thanks to PLAYTIME’s urethane coatings.

Lopano says TIA is happy to provide families with small children – and those who will ultimately fly with them – a break.

“Not only are the play areas great for parents, other passengers appreciate that young travelers are happily occupied,” Lopano said. “They improve the flying experience for everyone.”
