As of February 28, 2013, the website has been alive for about two months. Marketing team from Response Home Security published the site’s traffic data grabbed from Google Analytics. According to the data, from December 1, 2012 to February 26, 2013, there are a total of 996 visits to the website, of which 23.39% are new visits. Average time duration for each visit is around eight minutes, making total pageview number to 6,767. “The low new visit percentage indicates that most of the current visits are from internal developers instead of potential home security system buyers,” commented one professional from the marketing team, “But, that is what we are expecting. After all, the site has only been alive for about two months.”
The marketers go further to find out what operating systems users are using to browse the site. According to data shown on Google Analytics from December 1, 2012 to February 26, 2013, Windows user takes up the most percentage: 45.55%, with Mac having a slightly lower percentage: 44.23%. Meanwhile, 4.86% and 1.01% of the users use iOS and Android respectively to visit the site. “The data shows a huge percentage gap between traditional laptops or desktops and the modern mobile gadgets. This indicates to me that we are not doing enough for smartphone users, tablet users and other mobile gadget users. It might be the onsite user experience for these users or the marketing effort specifically for mobile gadgets that we need to improve on or both. It’s the smart phone users or tablet users that are most interested in home automation, which is a big trend in the modern home security field,” said one Response Home Security professional.
