Gulf Coast Drug Rehab Sees Success with New After Care Program

Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment is an alcohol and drug recovery facility offering a hands-on approach to recovery that offers assistance every step of the way. The facility’s new after-care program extends that assistance beyond the facility and into the daily lives of program graduates, providing even greater chances of recovery becoming a new way of life.

Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment knows that successful recovery depends upon many factors, and one of those factors comes in the form of the center’s new after care program. The after care program provides assistance and support for people in recovery once they leave the facility and re-enter the real world.

“Leaving a recovery program can be a scary prospect,” says Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment head of admissions Chris Ross. “Even though people may have learned new ways of thinking and behaving while in our safe and secure facility, the same old temptations and triggers can await in the outside world. Our after care program offers the sustained support they need to stay clean and sober in the face of those temptations and triggers.”

The Mayo Clinic supports the use of after care programs for a successful recovery, as does the Florida legislature, which has allocated funding for after care programs for the state-run programs. Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment has now followed suit with its own after care program that offers the elements and tools to help prevent relapse once people return to their communities.

Vital components of an after care program include continued contact and program accessibility, help with services if needed and assistance establishing an outside network of support. The continued contact and program accessibility comes from Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment’s staff, who remain available for program graduates. They may call, pay a visit or otherwise reach out for help to just to talk once leaving the facility. The center also offers assistance for people to find necessary services, such as housing or medical care, as well as an outside network that provides additional support for a newly sober individual. That support can come from friends, family, self-help groups or other community members who are also in recovery.

“We’ve already seen success from our after care program,” Ross said. “It’s helping to make the transition much easier for those who leave the facility while increasing their likelihood of success. Recovery is not something that people only enjoy in a treatment center, but it's a way of life that can be enjoyed anywhere. Our after care program helps make that possible."

Located on the Gulf of Mexico in Destin, Florida, Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment boasts a serene setting, luxurious surroundings and, most importantly, the research-based programs that can help people recovery from drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. The center offers a variety of non-12-step, holistic options for creating a personalized recovery program focused on lasting recovery.
