People Magazine reviews some of the best dressed stars at the Oscars. Long Island prom dresses retailer, Estelle’s Dressy Dresses, issues a response citing embellishment and muted colors were the style themes of the night.

On March 1, Estelle Schlossberg, owner of Estelle’s Dressy Dresses, responds to People Magazine’s article detailing the red carpet style at the Oscars.

According to People Magazine, celebrity stylist Jen Rade had commented on several of the dresses worn by celebrities. Among the guests, Jessica Chastain, Halle Barry, Zoe Saldana, Charlize Theron and Stacy Keibler were among the best dressed at the Oscars.

“The trends on the red carpet rocked,” Rade said to People Magazine. “We saw lots of sequins, beading and embellishment, which are fun ways for everyone to add a bit of glamour into your everyday life.”

One of the dresses Schlossberg was most impressed with was Halle Barry’s Atelier Versace dress with shoulder pads and arm sleeves. “While the dress had a plunging neckline, the rest of her body was covered up,” Schlossberg said. “It was black with vertical silver and gold lines of sequins. It was gorgeous and looked perfect with her body. She almost looked like an eighties-style Cleopatra. It complimented her well.”

Schlossberg noticed many of the celebrities at the Oscars toned down their style this year in terms of color and cut. “Many of the dresses were classic style with neutral colors,” she said. “Though many of the dresses had sparkles, sequins and interesting designs, the colors were all very muted. No one really made a bold statement with a color. Jennifer Aniston wore a simple red Valentino, but I think that was the only real color statement of the night.”

Schlossberg commented on the dresses worn at the Oscars as perfect examples for prom attendees. “As a premier destination for Long Island prom dresses, we look at styles that the stars are wearing to see what we think young girls will want,” she said. “Dresses like Halle Barry’s are a bit too old for girls going to prom, but simple dresses like Jennifer Aniston’s or embellished gowns like Naomi Watts’ Armani are popular. They are flattering cuts with fun colors. Those are the types of dresses girls want for prom.”
