Maddie’s approach to addiction counseling naturally complements Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment’s commitment to holistic treatment

Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment announced that Madeline “Maddie” Guarino, an addiction treatment therapist and licensed clinical social worker, will join the center’s addiction treatment team.

“Guarino brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that adds another dimension to our drug rehab program,” said Gulf Coast Treatment head of admissions Chris Ross. “We are thrilled to welcome her onboard and excited to witness the difference she makes in our patients’ successful recoveries.”

As an addiction therapist, Maddie Guarino uses practical, compassionate and strengths-based counseling to help clients address the emotional and mental issues underlying their addiction to alcohol or drugs. She also incorporates mindfulness, relaxation and mental control into treatment.

According to Chris Ross, Maddie’s rational, positive approach helps patients successfully confront their addictions and take the necessary steps to achieve long-term sobriety.

“Maddie’s approach to addiction counseling naturally complements Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment’s commitment to holistic treatment and personalized care,” said Ross. “We recognize that there is no single, ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to substance abuse counseling and rehabilitation. This personalized approach is an effective way to overcome addiction and embrace recovery.”

Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment uses research-based treatment programs to help patients through each stage of the recovery process. Guarino will be working closely with patients to identify underlying emotional and mental problems that trigger substance abuse. Recognizing unhealthy patterns of behavior and the triggers for these actions helps patients overcome their addictions and stay committed to sobriety.

“While relapse can occur, our program has a very low relapse rate due in part to the hard work of addiction therapists like Guarino,” said Ross. “Their one-on-one counseling sessions help patients identify the root causes for addictive behavior. Together with our detoxification and purification programs, addiction counseling helps to eliminate the drug or alcohol cravings that can haunt people during the recovery process.”

Guarino has completed extensive continuing education coursework to further her understanding of addiction and treatment, as well as the role of cognitive-behavioral therapy in treating patients with substance abuse. She holds a Masters of Social Work Degree from Florida State University. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Prior to joining Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment, Guarino served as a program therapist providing individual, family and group therapy at a residential substance abuse rehabilitation facility.

Located on the Gulf of Mexico in Destin, Florida, Gulf Coast Addiction Treatment is a world-class drug rehabilitation center with a 90 percent success rate. The rehab center’s one-to-one student to staff ratio and holistic treatment options provide individuals with the tools and support they need to successfully overcome addiction and achieve long-term sobriety.
